How the moving quote request builder works
This four-step tool turns your route, inventory and access notes into a message you can send to selected movers. It prepares a request; it does not obtain prices, choose recipients or book a move.
Step-by-step instructions
- Route: enter pickup and delivery cities or areas and their provinces or territories. Add postal codes or street addresses only if you want those details included in the message.
- Move: choose the service and shipment size, then add your preferred date or explain that your timing is flexible. Describe both property types when useful.
- Details: list the items and requested extras, plus stairs, elevator reservations, parking and carrying distance. If you previously saved an inventory, use the import button and decide whether to add it below or replace your current item text.
- Request: review the summary and generated message. Use Back or a step button to correct it. Add optional contact details, then copy the message or download the .txt file and send it yourself.
Example: a small apartment move
A useful request can say: pickup in Ottawa, delivery in Kingston, one-bedroom apartment, flexible weekday date, second-floor pickup with no elevator, delivery elevator available by reservation, and an attached furniture-and-box list. Ask each company to quote that same scope and explain minimum time, travel and additional charges. Replace every example detail with your actual move information.
Frequently asked questions
Has a company received my details when I reach the final step?
No. The final step only creates text in the page. Copy it into your own email or messaging app, review the recipients and send it yourself.
Do I need to enter my full address and phone number?
Those fields are optional. You can begin with city or area details and add private information directly in your own message when you decide to share it.
What happens if I import an inventory over existing text?
When item text is already present, the tool offers an add-below or replace choice. Review the combined list for duplicate entries before copying the request.
Does downloading save every future change?
A .txt download is a snapshot of the generated request at that moment. Download again after editing. Save request on this device is a separate optional browser copy.
Will movers give identical or binding prices from this message?
The request helps you describe a consistent scope. Each company still assesses the work and provides its own terms. Ask it to identify assumptions, excluded charges and what changes the price.
