Make the list fit your move

A condo move may need elevator reservations at two buildings. A longer move may need a delivery window or storage between addresses. A small furniture delivery still needs accurate dimensions, access details, and an agreed pickup appointment.

Add any requirements from your building or mover to your own notes. Check the written agreement for payment, changes, protection, and reporting procedures rather than assuming the checklist covers every term.

Prepare once, compare more easily

Use the same inventory and access information when requesting estimates. Enter the figures from those estimates into our quote comparison tool, then add your chosen services and a planning reserve in the moving cost calculator.

For a local starting point, explore the Ontario city guides. Our review methodology explains how to interpret company information and older coverage.

How to turn the moving checklist into an action plan

The 20 tasks are arranged by stage rather than by a fixed countdown. Start with your next decision, then revisit the list as your booking becomes more specific. The tool tracks completion; it does not schedule appointments or send reminders.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Read Before you book first, even if you already have a moving date. Complete the inventory and access details before requesting comparable prices.
  2. Tick a task after the relevant action is finished. For example, an elevator request is not a confirmed reservation until the building has accepted it.
  3. Work through moving-day and delivery tasks as they become relevant. Keep building requirements and move-specific tasks in a separate note so they are not lost outside the standard list.
  4. Select Save checklist after updating it. On a later visit, use Restore saved checklist in the same browser. Print or save a PDF when you need an independent copy.

Example: a condo move with two elevator bookings

Treat access confirmation as two separate real-world actions: reserve pickup access, then reserve delivery access. Record each building’s window, loading location and contact in your move notes. Check the checklist item only when both arrangements are resolved; one tick cannot store the details of two bookings.

Frequently asked questions

Does 20 of 20 mean every requirement for my move is complete?

It means every standard task is checked. Your building, mover, route or specialist items may require additional preparation. Review their instructions before moving day.

Will this checklist email me reminders?

No. It shows task progress in the page. Put any deadlines or appointments in your own calendar.

Can I add my own tasks in this tool?

The current interactive list contains 20 fixed tasks. Keep additional tasks in your own notes or on a printed copy rather than assuming they have been saved in the checklist.

Why did my progress disappear after reopening?

Use Save checklist before leaving and Restore saved checklist when returning. Browser storage can be unavailable or cleared, and private sessions may not retain it. A printed copy provides a separate record.
